  Dr. Baoyan Liu: Chief Physician, PhD Tutor, Chief Researcher of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, President of World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS), Fellow of International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, Traditional Medicine Consultant of World Health Organization (WHO).

  Dr. Liu has been committing to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and technology research for many years. He has proposed clinical research paradigms by including characteristics of TCM and has accomplished many fruitful work for the advancement of TCM. At the same time, in the acupuncture field, he has conducted clinical research on acupuncture demonstration, standardization, case registration and more. He has taken the lead in the 973 Program (National Basic Research Program), the 863 Program (State High-Tech Development Plan), the National Science & Technology Pillar Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and 20 more major national projects. He has also held the position of chief scientist for the 973 Program. Dr. Liu has achieved prominent results in multiple researches: TCM clinical research methodology, acupuncture standardization research, acupuncture registration research, TCM “preventive treatment of disease”, Chinese and Western medicine in prevention and treatment of SARS and Influenza A virus, TCM in prevention and treatment of H1N1 flu (subtype of Influenza A virus), and prevention and treatment of major infectious diseases such as hand-foot-and-mouth disease, Japanese encephalitis, AIDS and viral hepatitis. Dr. Liu has won 3 second prizes of the State Science and Technology Progress Award as well as 9 first and second prizes of the Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Award. In addition, he has published more than 300 academic papers (including 67 SCI papers with a total impact factor of 104) and 10 books or book chapters.
