Clinical Status　Although acupuncture-moxibustion was spread to Ecuador for two decades, local people has some knowledge of acupuncture-moxibustion including indications and clinical efficacy and is willing to seek for acupuncture-moxibustion treatment. Heavy demand of patients objectively promotes development of acupuncture-moxibustion, of which clinical practitioners in department of acupuncture-moxibustion public hospital begin to increase. The 2nd Military Hospital in Quito, the capital of Ecuador set department of acupuncture-moxibustion to conduct clinical treatment for the military and the whole society where two local practitioners trained in Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine to assist working of Chinese medical team. Fee standards are 15 dollars per time for citizens, 6 dollars per time for the military and family members and free for acupuncture-moxibustion instruments. There are two main kinds of acupuncture-moxibustion clinics, one is opened by foreign practitioners who are mainly Chinese and South Koreans and Americans in minority, another one is opened by local practitioners who have studied in Europe or China. These clinics are located mainly in Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca, 40 in total.20 to thirty dollars for one treatment and 5 dollars for acupuncture-moxibustion instruments for one person. Ecuador is one of the few countries include acupuncture-moxibustion into medical care in the world. All fees acupuncture-moxibustion treatment are included in medical care, whose reimbursement is 60% as other treatment terms. One or two clinic opened by overseas Chinese is large-scaled such as the Tu’s.

Educational Status　Ecuador has no formal systematic bachelor education like that in China at present. Only the above-mentioned university sets clinical major of acupuncture-moxibustion that recepts only 20 students annually. Its schooling length is 3 year, of which two for education and one for clinical practice. Most study acupuncture-moxibustion in China or Europe. Nowadays China provides staff training for Ecuador but the quota is only two to three and training length is only a quarter. Training location is in TCM hospital of province like TCM Hospital of Shanxi Province in Taiyuan rather than in TCM schools.
