Overview of Acupoint Selection for Treatment of Primary Dysmenorrhea by Moxibustion

Abstract: Primary dysmenorrhea is common during clinical practice. Moxibustion as one of therapeutic method for primary dysmenorrhea has been proved to be effective. During clinical practice, the selection of acupoints are diversified for the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea by moxibustion. However, there are still some urgent problems need to be considered such as selection of acupoints, standard of diagnosis and treatment, mechanism of moxibustion. The present paper summarized single use of acupoint such as Guanyuan (CV4), Lieque(L7) and combination of multi-acupoints by searching the literature about treatment of primary dysmenorrhea by moxibustion in recent years in order to provide reference for the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea by moxibustion.
