Abstract: the treatment of herpes zoster in TCM has great advantages , which highlights the advantages and characteristics of the traditional Chinese medicine. The author reviews the  literature for nearly 10 years proved:  the  treatment  of  herpes  zoster  with  acupuncture  has  the  advantage  of  regulation  qi  and  blood, expelling  of  toxin  and  purging  heat  and  removing  pain.  Acupuncture  in  relieving  pain  and  reducing postherpetic neuralgia were significantly better than the pure western medicine treatment, and the cost  of acupuncture is cheaper, without obvious adverse reactions, therefore it is easy to be accepted by patients.
