Abstract: Peripheral facial paralysis，a common and frequently occurring disease，is caused by facial nerve damage,  which  have a great impact on the psychological and daily life of patients.Acupuncture has definite curative effect in the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis, but the current mechanism of that has not yet fully understood.Thus ,We  need to use animal models to explore the mechanism of acupuncture treatment of peripheral facial paralysis because of human ethical  and  other  objective  reasons.  This  paper  aim  to  summarizes  the  recent  progress  in acupuncture treatment of facial paralysis from the aspects of model making method, model and the evaluation of acupuncture and the possible mechanism of acupuncture, so as to provide ideas for further study on the mechanism of acupuncture treatment and offer the basic research evidences for the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment on peripheral facial paralysis.What's more,  which promotes the standardization and depth  of   mechanism of acupuncture treatment on peripheral facial  paralysis  and  has  certain  significance  for  popularization  and  application  of  acupuncture dominant diseases.
