Abstract: Lanwei  acupoint, discovered by German Von Nils Krack, was widely used by Chinese doctors during a certain period to treat appendix. This application changed the medical principle towards appendix which advocated operation as soon as possible, leading to lots of research on treating appendix by acupuncture. Lanwei  acupoint,which is a area instead of a point, reflects relation between organs and the surface of body under the guide of meridians theory. And its application must be clear in order to avoid accident. The review indicates that development of acupuncture must insist on inheritance and innovation.
