On February 25, in order to further implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's instructions on adherence to equal importance to and integration of TCM and western medicine treatment in the prevention and control of COVID-19, and Premier Li Keqiang’s requirements on strengthening the integration, promoting the deep involvement of TCM in the whole process of diagnosis and treatment, further pushing forward the establishment and optimization of the mechanism of integrating TCM and western medicine in the designated hospitals in Wuhan, and giving full play to the unique role of TCM in the treatment, the medical team of the central steering group held a working meeting on integrated TCM and western medicine treatment of COVID-19. Ma Xiaowei, Secretary of Party Leadership Group, Minister of National Health Commission attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The meeting pointed out that doing a good job in integrated TCM and western medicine treatment of COVID-19 is an important move to implement the decision and deployment of CPC Central Committee, an important means to enhance the efficacy of treatment, and an important guarantee to meet the needs of the people for TCM services. Earlier, under the leadership of the central steering group, integrated TCM and Western medicine treatment has achieved notable results. The next step is to ensure that there are mechanisms, teams, measures and effective concerning integrated TCM and western medicine treatment in the designated hospitals based on problems and goals, and make every effort to protect the lives of the people.

The meeting emphasized that designated hospitals must make a regulation of integrated TCM and western medicine consultations and ward rounding, improve the integrated TCM and western medicine mechanism, gradually optimize diagnosis and treatment program, coordinate the deployment of sufficient TCM resources, strengthen the provision of TCM drugs to meet the needs of integrated TCM and western medicine treatment. It is necessary to earnestly uplift political standing, to follow the decisions and deployment of CPC Central Committee and the State Council to strengthen coordination and sense of responsibility, to make good use of the medical resources of the designated hospitals and the medical aid teams, to establish a unified leadership, close cooperation and coordination, information sharing work mechanism, and to go all out to do a good job in the integrated TCM and Western medicine treatment of COVID-19.
