Chinese and English Bilingual "Beijing Remote Health Service Platform" Goes Online Globally, Providing TCM Protocol for the Prevention and Treatment of COVID-19

The first Chinese and English bilingual TCM service platform in Beijing -"Beijing Remote Health Service" platform was officially launched on April 2 and released TCM protocol for the full process of prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and nursing of COVID-19 to the whole world. The platform was developed by Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in conjunction with multiple departments, relying on internet technology to achieve online real-time interaction, remote consultation and other services.

After the outbreak of COVID-19, TCM played an important role with its unique advantages. Statistics show that as of April 1, among the confirmed cases in Beijing, 88.68% of them used TCM treatment, and the total effective rate reached 90%. In addition, the efficacy of TCM has also been recognized by international communities. The latest version of TCM protocol for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 has been translated into English and shared with those countries and regions in need.

In order to effectively meet the needs of TCM services of overseas Chinese and help them to prevent and control the epidemic, Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine fully utilized TCM resources in Beijing as the capital, brought together 23 overseas TCM academic organizations and organized the first batch of more than 10 TCM, logistics and trade enterprises, which jointly developed the Beijing remote health service platform.

The platform will provide TCM protocol for epidemic prevention and control, remote consultations and product for overseas Chinese, overseas Chinese students and foreigners, to achieve quick service of "five clicks" that is, "click to understand Beijing Protocol", "click to learn home protection", “click to find best hospitals, "click to find expert consultations" and “click to learn about TCM service”. Overseas users can enter the WeChat account "Beijing Remote Health Service" and select the service items according to their needs.

Specifically, Beijing remote health service platform will release the TCM protocol for the full process of prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and nursing of COVID-19 to the world. Among them, TCM prevention and treatment protocol has been updated to the 4th edition. In addition, the platform provides more than 100 articles on epidemic prevention and protection to guide everyone in their daily life during the epidemic.

It is worth mentioning that the platform has been linked to four best TCM hospitals in Beijing, and brought together TCM experts to provide remote consultations for overseas Chinese and foreigners. Liu Zhen, Vice President of Guang'anmen Hospital affiliated to China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, introduced that there are nearly one hundred doctors on the platform for online consultations and answers questions, explaining TCM diagnosis and treatment, helping users with psychological advice and providing them suggestions on healthy diet and lifestyle.

At present, COVID-19 has become a pandemic, and the demand for TCM from overseas Chinese is increasing. The platform can accurately provides TCM clinics and pharmacies in the neighborhood according to users’ places to achieve an combination of online consultation and delivery. At present, users can identify the addresses of 24 overseas TCM clinics, information of 11 TCM enterprises and 157 overseas pharmacies, and information of 41 overseas focal points through one click.

Tu Zhitao, Director General of the Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, said that the Beijing Remote Health Service Platform connects overseas TCM service outlets together, making it easy for users to get contact with the nearbouring TCM clinics, domestic TCM enterprises or foreign service centers, and choose services and product delivery according to their needs. It is expected that more enterprises and social organizations will participate in this platform in the future to provide more services for overseas Chinses.
