WFAS Call for the Celebration of the 8th World Acupuncture Week 2021

Dear Member Societies, Working Committees, Global TCM Practitioners:


On this occasion of the 8th World Acupuncture Week from 16th to 22th of November 2021, the Secretariat of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) hereby sends our best wishes to all the professionals and practitioners of TCM acupuncture and moxibustion worldwide and our sincere gratitude to all member societies for your effort and contributions to the advancement of the profession. 


On November 16th 2010, Acupuncture and Moxibustion of Traditional Chinese Medicine was inscribed on the Representative list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, marking the full recognition and endorsement of the great contributions of Acupuncture and Moxibustion of TCM in the human history of medicine. In November 2018, WFAS successfully held the "Special Event of World Acupuncture Day in UNESCO" in Paris, France, and released the Work Together to Create a Community for Human Health - 2018 Paris Declaration to the world. In November 2020, WFAS held the 2020 International Symposium on Acupuncture-Moxibustion & 10th Anniversary of the Inscription of Acupuncture and Moxibustion of Traditional Chinese Medicine in UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in Hainan, China, to share the spirit of ‘Inherit and innovate TCM Acupuncture; combat the pandemic for a shared future’. In this year, the WFAS 2021 International Acupuncture Symposium will be held in Zhuhai, China, with the theme of “TCM Acupuncture-moxibustion contrubutes to building a global Community of Health for all”. We look forward to your attention and participation.


Regarding the solid foundation of activities on protecting and inheriting TCM Acupuncture-Moxibustion in recent years, WFAS calls on member societies, Working Committees and acupuncture-moxibustion practitioners to actively carry out varies activities for the celebration of the World Acupuncture Week of 2021. Activities may be related to “TCM Acupuncture-moxibustion contrubutes to building a global Community of Health for all”, including “jointly fighting against Covid-19”, “academic exchanges”, “public welfare activities”, “popular science lectures”, “free clinic services”, “publications or journals”, “cultural products”, “flash mob videos” and “new media promotion”, etc.


Reports of avtivities shall be sent to email addresses of the Secretariat, in the form of text (around 500 English words, MS Word format), photos, or videos, which will be published on our official website. Please kindly send the materials no later than 30 November 2021. Your attention and support is greatly appreciated.
