Opening Ceremony of the 3rd Canadian International Academic Seminar of TCM & ACU-MOX - the 1st TCM Festival in Bethune's Hometown
During October 8 to October 11, 2017, on the occasion of the Canadian Thanksgiving Day, hundreds of TCM experts and practitioners from Canada, China and all over the world gathered in Ontario to participate the 3rd Canadian International Academic Seminar of TCM & ACU-MOX, the 1st Academic Exchange Meeting of WFAS Science and Technology Committee and the 1st TCM Festival in Bethune's Hometown co-organized by Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (GUCM), WFAS Science and Technology Committee, School of TCM of Canadian Humber College and Alumni Association of GUCM in Canada, which lasted for 4 days. Wang Shengliang, President of GUCM leading Chinese experts attended the seminar and discussed the innovative measures and characteristic clinical techniques of TCM & ACU-MOX.

The academic seminar was held in the Parliament Hall of Markham, Toronto. President Wang and Wu Fengyi, Member of Parliament, Huang Sumei, Vice-speaker of the Parliament of Ontario, Ms Ferns Woolcott, President of Ontario Administration of TCM Physicians and Acupuncturists, Mr Allan Mak, Director of Ontario Administration of TCM Physicians and Acupuncturists, Jason Powell, Dean of School of Health of Humber College, Pro. Zhang Jinda, Vice-president of WFAS, Xu Nenggui, President of WFAS Science and Technology Committee and Vice-president of GUCM, Li Canhui and Cai Liping, Chairman of Alumni Association of GUCM in Canada all attended and addressed this meeting.
Jason Powell, Dean of School of Health of Humber College, pointed out in his speech at the opening ceremony that pain was an eternal problem for human's physical and mental health and the use of pain-killers in western countries was faced with serious problems. A "New Opium War" was launched in western countries like America and Canada, in order to prevent hams caused by overuse of opioid analgesics. As an effective non-drug therapy, TCM & ACU-MOX would definitely play a significant role in solving this medical problem. The first public School of TCM in North America that was sponsored by government was set up in Humber College, which was dedicated to cultivating high-quality TCM physicians and acupuncturists, conducting clinical researches of TCM & ACU-MOX and starting English journals of TCM & ACU-MOX. President Wang and other distinguished guests cut the ribbon for the "Research Platform of Non-drug Therapy for Pain Cooperated by China and Canada". President Wang pointed out that this meeting shifted the topic of the academic seminar to the important medical problem - pain, which was attached of great practical significance for the popularization of TAC & ACU-MOX as the optimal non-drug therapy to relieve pain. Several dozens of experts including Pro. Xu Nenggui and Pro. Jing Xianghong were invited to deliver a speech on the meeting. Based on abundant scientific researches and clinical evidences of the clinical effects of TCM & ACU-MOX, these experts talked about the TCM & ACU-MOX's functions to replace opioid drugs, reduce drug dosages and its wider range of application in clinical departments, like departments of internal medicine, surgery gynecology. The two-day academic reports and spot demonstration of ACU-MOX were well-received by the audience.
On the occasion of the Canadian Thanksgiving Day, the 1st TCM Festival in Bethune's Hometown was held in Gravenhurst - Bethune's hometown. President Wang leading the delegation visited the hometown of Bethune, called on Paisley Donaldson, Mayer of Gravenhurst and gave him a scroll painting of kapok which is the city flower of Guangzhou as present. Delegation of Chinese experts all left word in Bethune Memorial House and made a donation, to express their gratitude for Bethune internationalism and the friendship between Chinese and Russian people.
