Concentrating on Scientific Research, the Project of Prevention and Control of COVID-19 with TCM Obtained Phased Progress
National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine is accelerating the clinical research on prevention and control of COVID-19 with Traditional Chinese Medicine. The special emergency scientific research projects implemented by NATCM have obtained phased progress by now.
NATCM has successively implemented 2 emergency projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, namely Research on Prevention and Control of COVID-19 with TCM and Clinical Research on Prevention and Control of COVID-19 with Integrated TCM and Western Medicine, to carry out research on TCM prevention and control and integrated treatment of TCM and western medicine. With the mode of “big data prediction – laboratory evaluation – clinical validation”, clinical research and medicine screening have sped up.
Oriented by clinical emergency, applicability and utility, emergency projects at NATCM’s level have been quickly started in Hebi, Shanxi, Heilongjiang and Shaanxi provinces to observe the clinical efficacy of Qingfei Paidu Decoction used in COVID-19 patients. On Feb 6th, NATCM and the National Health Commission jointly issued the Notice on Recommending the Qingfei Paidu Decoction in Integrated Treatment of TCM and Western Medicine of COVID-19. All provinces have been advised to use this decoction in clinical treatment, and its accessibility and effectiveness are relatively high.
At present, Qingfei Paidu Decoction has been introduced to 7 provinces and municipalities including Hubei, Fujian, Qinghai, Guangxi, Chongqing, Anhui and Sichuan, to expand the observation range of clinical efficacy. As of Feb 11th, according to reported data from these provinces, the total effective rate per day has exceeded 90%.
