WFAS 2019 International Symposium on Acupuncture – Moxibustion held in Antalya, Turkey
The WFAS 2019 International Symposium on Acupuncture – Moxibustion was held from November 14 to 17 in Antalya, Turkey. The event is co-organized by WFAS and China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS) in collaboration with the Turkish Acupuncture Association. The main topic of this Symposium was International Consensus on Acupuncture and Complementary Medicine. More than 700 professionals from 39 countries and regions around the world participated and exchanged knowledge and experiences regarding the WHO Traditional Medicines Strategy, as well as theoretical foundations, scientific and clinical research. 196 papers were presented by 86 experts of the highest academic and scientific level throughout the four days of the Symposium.
The opening ceremony of the Symposium was attended by prominent authorities such as Dr Zafer Kalayci, Director of the Department of Traditional and Complementary Medicines of the Turkish Ministry of Health, Dr Liu Baoyan, President of WFAS, Dr Yang Longhui, Vice President of CACMS, Dr Murat Topoglu, President of the Turkish Acupuncture Association, representatives of the State Administration of Chinese Medicine of the PRC and the Chinese Embassy in Turkey, among others.

After the inauguration, a keynote address was made, In Search of the International Consensus on the Nomenclature of Auricular Acupuncture, by the prestigious Professor Terry Oleson of the University of California (USA).
During the closing ceremony, Dr Ramón María Calduch, vice president of the FEMTC and WFAS, announced the celebration of the next annual WFAS symposium that will be held in Amsterdam, Holland on May 8 and 9, 2020.
