Delegation of WFAS attends the 50th Anniversary of Vietnam Acupuncture-moxibustion Society 

　　On 5th May,2017, the 50th Anniversary of Vietnam Acupuncture-Moxibustion Society was held in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Deputy PM and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nhuyen Khanh, Representative of the Military Commission of the Communist Party,  Vice Chairman of Democratic Party and Deputy Director General of Department of Traditiaonal Medicine of Ministry of Health of Vietnam Fan Wuqing, President of Vietnam Acupuncture-moxibustion Society Pro. Ruan Qiucai, Deputy Director of Department of Health of Ministry of Public Security Fan Ziyou, President of Cental Acupuncture-moxibustion Hospital Ruan Boguang, Deputy Director of Department of International Cooperation of SATCM Zhu Donghai, President of WFAS Pro. Liu Baoyan and Deputy Director of Administration Office of CACMS Li Aijun attended the opening ceremony and addressed. Over three hundred Acupuncture-moxibustion practitioners from thirty provinces of Vietnam attended the anniversary.

　　President of Vietnam Acupuncture-Moxibustion Society Pro. Ruan Qiucai said that China and Vietnam are heart-to heart brothers at the opening ceremony. Acupuncture-moxibustion and TCM originate form China, which is applied in Vietnam over sixty years. He went to Beijing in the early 1980s for Acupuncture-Moxibustion study and brought it to Vietnam to carry forward. Former Chairman of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam Ho Chi Minh was affected with Acupuncture-moxibustion and in support of its development. It is also hoped that China and Vietnam continue conducting researches on Acupuncture-moxibustion techniques, training backbones to make contributions for joint and continuous development of Acupuncture-Moxibustion worldwide.

　　Deputy Director of Department of International Cooperation of SATCM Zhu Donghai pointed out that Vietnam Acupuncture-Moxibustion Society has made great contributions to health of Vietnamese people that deserves sincere respect. The traditional friendship between China and Vietnam is initiated and fostered by the older generation of leaders of the two countries, which is a precious treasure. SATCM will support work of Vietnam Acupuncture-Moxibustion Society the member of WFAS as always and development and spread of Acupuncture-moxibustion in Vietnam. Meanwhile, it is hoped that WFAS functioning as bridges and bonds continues enhancing cooperation with Acupuncture-moxibustion and TCM societies worldwide to contribute to progress and development of global health in 21st Century.

　　Expressing warm congratulations for the anniversary on behalf of WFAS, President of WFAS Liu Baoyan mentioned in his lecture that Acupuncture-moxibustion originates form China,which was selected into the intangible cultural heritage list by the UNESCO. Nowadays, Acupuncture-moxibustion is applied in one hundred and eighty three counties and treatmnet of over five hundred diseases. According to related surveys, more than thirty out of over one thousand and five hundred clinical guidelines in America list Acupuncture-moxibustion as one of recommended proposals. Governed and construed by laws, Acupuncture-moxibustion has its legislation and been included in medical insurance to various degrees in over twenty countries. Established in 1987, the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) is a non-governmental international union of acupuncture-moxibustion societies with one hundred and ninety six society members in fifty four countries and regions, having official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO) and establishing A-level liaise with ISO/TC249.

　　Faced with flourish of Acupuncture-moxibustion, we should recognize existing challenges that the theoretical system needs perfection. To be specific, new research findings haven’t been included, the potentials haven’t been fulfilled, diseases applying Acupuncture-moxibustion haven’t been fully treated, clinical efficacy lacks high-quality research proof, the mechanism of Acupuncture-moxibustion has’t been fully explained, etc.. All in all, development of Acupuncture-moxibustion is not sufficient to people’s increasing demand of health. WFAS and  Vietnam Acupuncture-moxibustion Society will make joint efforts to promote development of Acupuncture-moxibustion in Vietnam, Southeast Asia and the whole world.

　　Addressing at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of Administration Office of CACMS Li Aijun expressed warm congratulations on behalf of the academy to this anniversary and sincere gratitude to devoted President of Vietnam Acupuncture-moxibustion Society Pro. Ruan Qiucai and representatives. Established in 1955, CACMS is the biggest comprehensive national research institute of TCM, to which WFAS and CAAM are affiliated to. In the develop history of over sixty years, CACMS have gained great achievements on scientific research, health care, talent cultivation and signed international cooperative agreements with related reputed institutes in over sixty countries. Pro.Tu Yoyo won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for development of artemisinin and its application on treatment of malaria in 2015.

　　The high-speed development of TCM creates new historic opportunities for Acupuncture-moxibustion. The 50th Anniversary of Vietnam Acupuncture-moxibustion Society is not only a big event for Vietnamese field of TCM and Acupuncture-moxibustion, but also a promotion for the whole Southeastern Asia. CACMS hopes to promote the development of Acupuncture-moxibustion for human health together with global Acupuncture-moxibustion practitioners.

　　During the anniversary, over fifty representatives through out Vietnam were awarded and licensed by President of Vietnam Acupuncture-moxibustion Society Pro. Ruan Qiucai. Delegation from WFAS visited Vietnam Cental Acupuncture-moxibustion Hospital after the meeting.

　　Being one of the founding members, Vietnam Acupuncture-moxibustion Society maintains close connections with the headquarters of WFAS for years and plays an important role in global acupuncture development, which has developed twenty-eight thousand and five hundred members and covers fifty eight provinces in Vietnam. Pro. Ruan Qiucai took the lead to establish Vietnam Cental Acupuncture-moxibustion Hospital and Acupuncture Institute in support of Vietnamese government, encouraging hospitals in cities and provinces to establish department of acupuncture to insist clinical characteristics and advantages. He also promotes the application of acupuncture anesthesia in surgery and drug rehabilitation, training generations and generations of excellent acupuncture talents for the inheritance and development of Vietnamese acupuncture.
