August 22, 2022, Secretariat of the Standardization Working Committee of the WFAS held the online preview conference of five WFAS Acupuncture-Moxibustion international standards which project was approved in 2020, including Specification of formulation and evaluation for the clinical practice guideline of acupuncture and moxibustion, Guidelines of Clinical Practice with Acupuncture and Moxibustion for Allergic Rhinitis, Guidelines of Clinical Practice with Acupuncture and Moxibustion for Chronic Constipation, Technical Benchmarks of  Acupuncture and Moxibustion--Electroacupuncture, Good Clinical Practice of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Quality Assurance. Among them, the Good Clinical Practice of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Quality Assurance has been published in the World Health Organization(WHO).

About 40 participants attended the meeting including Liu Baoyan, the President of WFAS, Kim Yong-suk(Korea), Vice President and Director of the Standardization Working Committee, Yu Xiaochun, Chief of the Standardization Working Committee, Huang Longxiang, Consultant, Yin Haibo, Associate secretory of the Standardization Working Committee and director of academic department, Zhao Baixiao, Yang Jun, Wu Binjiang(Canada), Li Yongming(America), Zhao Hong, Deputy Director of the Standardization Working Committee, and Standardization working committee members Ramon Maria Calduch(Spain), Sergio Bangrazi(Italy), Rinaldo RINALDI(Italy), Yang Liu(UK), Liu Weihong, Tang Chunzhi, Li Tie, Chen Min, and  standard drafting work group members. The meeting was hosted by Prof. Zhao Hong, Deputy Director and Secretary-general of the Standardization working committee, and held in the form of Zoom online meeting.

Some Participating Experts

During this meeting, the drafting work group reported on the research background, research method, core technical content of the standard and team consist for the development of the standard respectively. President Liu Baoyan, Director Yu Xiaochun, Director Kim Yong-suk, Prof. Rinaldo RINALDI and other participating members affirmed the research significance and application value of the five standards. The participating members discussed with the standard drafting group for specific technical contents, and provided guidance and detailed revision opinions for the standard drafting group for specific technical contents.

President Liu Baoyan pointed out that the formulation of the clinical practice guidelines of acupuncture and moxibustion issued by the WFAS should focus on the rational use of the experience of ancient and modern medical practitioners, and produce targeted recommendations for countries or regions with different acupuncture and moxibustion environments.

The drafting group reported the development method

Director Yu Xiaochun and Kim Yong-suk were delighted with the results of the five standards of the drafting work group, congratulated that WHO benchmarks for the practice of acupuncture（opinion collection for adoption of standard） was published in WHO. They were also full of hope for the developing international standards of WFAS and expressed sincere thanks to the committee members and experts attending the meeting.
