As the COVID-19 epidemic spreading at this stage, the Secretariat of WFAS has received proposals from oversea group members of postponing WFAS 2020 International Symposium on Acupuncture-Moxibustion in the Netherlands and the “Belt and Road” Tour on TCM Acupuncture in Portugal. WFAS has prudently discussed with the organizers, consulted with the Executive Committee through communication, and now decide to postpone the two meetings, which were originally scheduled on May 8 - 14, 2020, to September 24 - 29, 2020. More details are now notified as follows: 

1. Contents

1.1 WFAS 2020 International Symposium on Acupuncture-Moxibustion in the Netherlands will be held on September 24 - 26, 2020. The conference is co-hosted by the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) and the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS), and organized by Dutch Acupuncture Association, Dutch Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine Zhong and TCMned. Officials from the World Health Organization, International Organization for Standardization, Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, are invited to the symposium. Representatives from countries around the world will discuss subjects like the basic theories, scientific researches, clinical experiences of acupuncture and other traditional medicines and their application in various specialties, base on the traditional medicine strategy of the World Health Organization.

1.2 2020 WFAS international Acupuncture-Moxibustion Congress and the “Belt and Road” Tour on TCM Acupuncture in Portugal will be held in Porto, September 27 - 29, 2020. The event is co-hosted by WFAS, CACMS and the China-Portugal TCM Center, and organized by the Jean Piaget Higher School of Health. During the event, 2020 WFAS international Acupuncture-Moxibustion Congress, acupuncture themed lectures, and free clinics will be carried out. The participants will promote the knowledge and culture, conduct exchanges on the promotion, practice and education of TCM acupuncture in Portugal. As of the end of 2019, WFAS “Belt and Road” Tour on TCM Acupuncture has covered 35 countries and regions.

2. Call for Papers

2.1 Applicants for speech or poster display must write the Chinese and English titles of their thesis in the registration form, and submit abstracts in both Chinese and English (no more than 300 words in Chinese) and resumes in both Chinese and English (no more than one page), and digital HD passport photos before August 1, 2020. Those that already submitted shall remain unchanged.

2.2 Topic of thesis: TCM Acupuncture, traditional, complementary, and alternative medicine

Follow topics are all welcomed: basic theories, mechanism research, clinical applications, clinical characteristics of diagnosis and treatment techniques, methodologies and evaluations, clinical guidelines and standardization, education and inheritance, talent training, acupuncture legislation, latest scientific research results and academic development in related professional disciplines or interdisciplinary fields, device product innovation research and development.

2.3 Prioritize speeches for 2020 International Symposium on Acupuncture-Moxibustion in the Netherlands, and if appropriate, recommend to 2020 WFAS international Acupuncture-Moxibustion Congress in Portugal.

3. Exhibition

During the two events, exhibitions related to TCM acupuncture, traditional, complementary and alternative medicine will be held, involving products, equipment, books, trade and service. Interested parties are very welcomed to register for the exhibition.

September 28, sessions, exhibition.

September 29, visit the local medical education institution; leave for China.

September 30, Arrive in China.
