Notice on the Collection of Retrospective Materials for the 40th Anniversary of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (First Round)

WFAS Executive Committee, member societies, branch organizations, acupuncture-moxibustion practitioners worldwide, and all sectors of society concerned with the development of acupuncture-moxibustion,

Since its establishment in 1987, the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) has been continuously committed to international academic exchange, acupuncture-moxibustion education and training, standardization, international dissemination of acupuncture-moxibustion, and cooperation with international organizations. It has witnessed and promoted the development of acupuncture-moxibustion worldwide.

To systematically review the development history of WFAS and comprehensively showcase its important achievements and historical memories over the past 40 years, WFAS now invites relevant organizations and individuals to submit retrospective materials. The materials will be used for the 40th Anniversary Commemorative Album, special exhibitions, promotional videos, the official website feature page, and related archival and historical documentation work. Relevant matters are hereby notified as follows.

I. Target Contributors

Executive Committees of WFAS of all terms, member societies, branch organizations, experts and scholars, staff members, trainees, partner institutions that have long participated in and supported the work of WFAS, acupuncture-moxibustion practitioners worldwide, and all sectors of society concerned with the development of acupuncture-moxibustion.

II. Materials to Be Collected

The materials requested mainly include the following three categories:

1. Historical Materials and Physical Objects

Materials reflecting the establishment, development, organizational building, major activities, and work achievements of WFAS, including but not limited to:

(1) Organizational development materials: important documents, historical events, original records of international acupuncture-moxibustion cooperation during the establishment and development of WFAS; materials relating to General Assemblies and Sessions of the Executive Committee of all terms; important institutional documents; development chronologies; annual work summaries; important correspondence; inscriptions and congratulatory letters from distinguished individuals from various sectors.

(2) Major activity materials: photos, videos, news reports, conference proceedings, and other materials relating to International Acupuncture Symposia, WFAS International Symposium on Acupuncture-Moxibustion, the “Belt and Road” Tour of Acupuncture-Moxibustion, academic forums, standardization meetings, international exchange and cooperation activities, cooperation signing ceremonies, public welfare activities, exhibitions, and other related activities.

(3) Academic and work achievements: milestone scientific research achievements, manuscripts or first editions of important academic works, major honorary certificates, medals, project achievements, media reports, and other relevant materials.

(4) Member society materials: basic information of member societies (for specific submission requirements, please refer to the attachment Submission Instructions), as well as related materials, photos, videos, publications, and other records concerning their participation in WFAS meetings, training programs, examinations, standardization work, academic exchanges, and international cooperation.

(5) Image, audio-visual, and physical materials: photos, videos, audio recordings, certificates, medals, commemorative badges, delegate passes for important meetings, flags, posters, commemorative albums, and other physical materials of historical or display value that reflect important milestones, major activities, and international exchange and cooperation of WFAS. Valuable originals may be provided through donation, copying, scanning, photography, loan for exhibition, or other agreed methods.

2. Memoirs and Oral History Materials

Memoirs and retrospective materials written or provided by individuals from various sectors who have long participated in, supported, or witnessed the development of WFAS, including but not limited to:

(1) First-hand recollections: articles on themes such as “WFAS and I,” “Important WFAS Activities I Participated In,” and “The International Dissemination of Acupuncture-Moxibustion I Have Witnessed,” covering personal experiences in WFAS work, memorable events, and recollections of important activities.

(2) Personal stories: representative stories of individuals closely connected with the development history and key work of WFAS, including current and former members of the Executive Committee, experts and scholars who have long participated in WFAS academic exchange, standardization, education and training, and international cooperation, representatives of member societies, representatives of partner institutions, Secretariat staff members, and first-hand participants in important activities.

(3) Organizational Stories: experiences of relevant organizations in participating in WFAS activities and promoting the development of acupuncture-moxibustion in their respective countries or regions, as well as representative cases of exchanges and cooperation with WFAS.

(4) Oral history materials: written records, interview transcripts, audio recordings, videos, and other forms of materials recounting important events, important figures, and significant memories in the development history of WFAS.

3. Achievement Cases and Future Messages

Representative materials reflecting WFAS’s work achievements, international influence, and future development, including but not limited to:

(1) International cooperation cases: representative materials concerning exchanges and cooperation between WFAS and international organizations, acupuncture-moxibustion groups in various countries, medical institutions, educational institutions, and research institutions, including cooperation documents, activity photos, meeting materials, visit records, and cooperation outcomes.

(2) Cases of the international dissemination of acupuncture-moxibustion: typical cases in which WFAS has supported or participated in the development of acupuncture-moxibustion, acupuncture-moxibustion education and training, standardization, academic exchange, and cultural dissemination in various countries.

(3) Congratulatory messages and future expectations: written messages, short videos, congratulatory letters, inscriptions, and suggestions for the future development of WFAS from members of the Executive Committee, member societies, experts and scholars, partner institutions, and individuals from various sectors on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of WFAS.

III. Requirements for Materials

1. Materials submitted should be authentic, accurate, and clearly sourced. Written materials should indicate the author’s name, organization, position, contact information, and date of creation.

2. Photos should preferably be submitted as original files and accompanied by information including the date and place of shooting, event name, main persons in the photo, photographer or provider, and other relevant details.

3. Videos and audio recordings should preferably be submitted as high-definition original files and accompanied by a brief description of the recording time, location, activity background, and main content.

4. For physical materials, photos and written descriptions may be submitted first. After communication and confirmation, the method of donation, copying, scanning, loan for exhibition, return, or other arrangements may be determined.

5. Contributors shall confirm that the materials submitted do not infringe upon the lawful rights and interests of others, including copyright, portrait rights, and privacy rights. WFAS will select, edit, and use the collected materials according to the needs of the anniversary activities and historical documentation work, and reserves the right to make necessary textual editing, layout adjustments, and excerpts of selected materials. Contributors shall retain the right of attribution.

IV. Submission Method

1. Electronic materials: All materials must be accompanied by descriptive text. Please send relevant materials as email attachments or upload them via WeTransfer to the WFAS Secretariat at:

V. Timeline for the First Round of Collection

VI. Other Matters

WFAS will organize and archive the collected materials, and use them, as appropriate, for the 40th Anniversary Commemorative Album, special exhibitions, promotional videos, the official website feature page, WeChat official account posts, and other publicity and display activities.
