On August 14, 2026, Liu Baoyan, President of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) and Academic Committee Member of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS), visited the Sino-Swiss Center for Integrative Medicine. Together with Dr Hongguang Dong, Director of the Center and WFAS Vice President (Switzerland), he then visited Meyrin City Hall, where they held discussions with Adrien Fohrer, Head of the Communications and Economic Affairs Service, and Tiffany Dessuet, Project Manager for Economic Affairs. The discussions focused on the development of integrative medicine, the health industry, and exchanges and cooperation between cities in China and Switzerland.

During the visit, Liu Baoyan learned about the Center's work and achievements in providing TCM clinical services, advancing innovative practices in integrative medicine, and promoting international academic exchange. He noted that, as population ageing accelerates worldwide, approaches to health are increasingly shifting from a primary focus on treatment toward greater emphasis on prevention and health management. Integrated health services have become an important trend in global health care. With their distinctive strengths, traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture-moxibustion are important components of integrative medicine and have broad prospects for further development and application worldwide.

During the meeting, Adrien Fohrer gave a detailed introduction to Meyrin's strengths in scientific and technological innovation, its industrial landscape, and its plans for the development of the health sector. Strategically located and home to extensive international resources, Meyrin has developed strong capabilities in the life sciences and health sectors, with distinctive industry clusters and platforms such as the "Health Valley." Its innovation-driven development and high-quality living environment provide a solid foundation for China-Switzerland cooperation in integrative medicine. The municipal government spoke highly of its longstanding cooperation with the Sino-Swiss Center for Integrative Medicine and expressed its commitment to further deepening strategic cooperation with Chinese partners in the field of TCM and broadening the scope and depth of collaboration.

This in-depth exchange between China and Switzerland represents another concrete effort by WFAS to advance the international development of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture-moxibustion. Going forward, WFAS will continue to leverage its platform strengths and leadership role to support the development of the Sino-Swiss Center for Integrative Medicine, with a focus on integrative medicine, international academic forums, the overseas promotion of acupuncture-moxibustion techniques, international talent development, and collaboration in the health industry. Through continued practical cooperation, WFAS will work to further integrate the distinctive techniques, concepts, and related industries of TCM and acupuncture-moxibustion into global health systems and contribute to the high-quality international development of traditional medicine.
