On September 16, Yang Jinsheng, Secretary-General of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS), led an expert delegation on a visit to the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Barcelona, where Consul General Meng Yuhong met with the delegation. The meeting included in-depth discussions on the integration of acupuncture-moxibustion and Chinese herbal medicine, experience in the international communication of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), acupuncture-moxibustion standardization, and efforts to advance related legislation. The participants also discussed practical challenges facing the development of TCM in Europe and exchanged views on relevant support and facilitation.

Yang Jinsheng introduced WFAS and its current development. He expressed the hope that, with the support of the Consulate-General, WFAS could bring together stakeholders in Spain’s traditional medicine sector, support its member societies in carrying out local activities, encourage more local professionals to engage with the WFAS platform, and further strengthen the international professional community contributing to the development of TCM.

Consul General Meng Yuhong extended a warm welcome to the delegation and spoke highly of the work of WFAS. She suggested that WFAS continue to engage closely with local communities in Spain, deepen public understanding of the value of TCM, steadily advance acupuncture-moxibustion standardization, actively participate in the development of relevant international rules, and further enhance the influence of TCM in Europe. Meng Yuhong noted that the Consulate-General would continue to serve as a bridge to support the dissemination and development of TCM in Spain and stood ready to help facilitate engagement with local health authorities and jointly advance work related to acupuncture legislation.
